Who is Author Alesha L. Escobar?

I’m a chocoholic and coffee addict who enjoys reading and writing fantasy novels. I’m the author of several bestselling fantasy books, and when I’m not chasing around my six children, I’m dreaming up new worlds and fun characters. My biggest fan is my husband, Luis, who is a storyboard artist for The Simpsons TV show and has a great eye for storytelling.

What’s your latest book all about?

A Discovery of Faeries is blend of portal fantasy and urban fantasy, a great read for young adults and adults alike. It’s about Raina, who’s the newest member of the Immortal Brotherhood, and how she has to help them recover their leader, the Lady of the Lost Ways, before the wrong people find the key to Faerieland and unleash dangerous magic upon the world. Noah is her partner, in a sense, and he’s trying to help Raina sort through her issues while trying to get into Faerieland. It turns out, the only person who knows how to get into Faerieland through a back way is Raina’s sister Trixie, who has her own motives and secrets. Mix in a handsome demon hunter who can resurrect from the dead, a time traveler, and an ageless Reaper, and you’ve got an addictive story with characters who you’ll want more of. I’m thrilled to have co-authored the book with award-winning author, H.M. Jones.

How did you get the idea of writing this book?

One of my favorite authors is George MacDonald, his “At The Back of the Northwind” made an impression on me. He also wrote Phantastes, which is a classic, and I think anyone who’s read Phantastes will see some callbacks to that story in A Discovery of Faeries. The idea of stepping from our world into another one full of magic, danger, and new possibilities is fascinating and a perfect set-up for a fantasy adventure.
